So Ashes mom and her family stayed with us for the 4th of July. We had a great time and I think the kids had a blast. Zac came over as well as our friends Jason, Anna and Elliot to share in the fun. It was surprisingly cool this year. I remember us being at Jason and Anna house last year and having to go outside for short periods at a time. I can only imagine what Anna must have felt like being 7.5 to 8mo pregnant at the time. You were right Anna, I did have it easy.
The kids also spent a lot of time at the park and apparently got to see quite the fireworks display. I on the other hand was in bed by 9.30pm. Clearly too much action for the preggo to deal with.
Thanks for staying with us guys, we had tons of fun!
1ST STOP...MISSOULA, MONTANA
The beginning of June we traveled to Missoula, Montana for a reunion long weekend. It was a long drive but we got to stay over at our good friends Joan and Ted in Spokane Washington which broke up the trip quite nicely. Road trippin' at 6 1/2 months pregnant was brutal. Little did I know what was to come. Anyhow, I got to meet a lot of Ashes friends from College and was particularly excited about seeing Brian again. Brian was completing the same Masters degree program as Ash back in South Africa. They were the yankee partners in crime and Brian was the first friend of Ashes that I got to know really well. I was also excited to see Ashes other buddy Chris. I had only met Chris once before but liked him right away. Brian and Chris have been friends all their lives so they are very much a like. Having all 3 boys together again was some feet according to Ash. The terrible trio were reunited. It was a GREAT weekend and Zola loved that she could sleep on the bed with us.
On the last day of the trip Ashes Dad and his brother and his family all drove 3 hours south to meet up and hang out with us. We speant a lovely 5 hours together eating food and catching up. We also got to see some river surfing in downtown Missoula as the river was raging. Thanks guys for making that love drive to come and visit.
NEXT STOP.....SEATTLE, WASHINGTON.
The very next weekend Ash, Zola and I were off to Seattle to see our good friend Drew, Trena, Anya and Sanford. The Redmans have their wedding anniversary the day after us so we have gotten into the habit of celebrating together. This year Drew and Trena had a surprise for us. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. The instructions were "dress smart casual but you can jazz it up with a feather boa or a hat or what ever" perplexing. Turns out we were going to Teatro Zinzanni, a dinner theatre under a tent. The evening was a combination of vaudville, cabaret, circque du soleil and a 5 course gourmet meal. It was FANTASTIC!!! I would recommend it to everyone. Thanks Drew and Trena for a fun time. Here's a picture of Ash and Zola after we got back. I think the travelling is getting to them...
we had 1 weekend without having to take a potty break every 100miles or so after this I think????
NEXT STOP... OCEAN SHORES AND PACIFIC BEACH, WASHINGTON.
Ashes mom and her family had been camping up at Pacific Beach for a couple weeks so we went up to see them. What a pretty place the Washington coast is WITHOUT THE WIND! Wow I really think that Ash and I have become sissy city folk or else I have become a crabby pregnant lady who is affecting him. Either way there was too much wind which made it cold but we still had a fun time. There was a sandcastle building competition down in Ocean Shores which we all got to see. Some sulptures ranged from novice to professional and they were all pretty great. Also, not to forget that we CAMPED, that's right the 7month preggo slept in a tent! Not recommended for the future but not as bad as I thought it would be. Oh by the way the dog slept in the tent with us. She is such a spoilt dog.
Allee had a fun birthday. She shared lots of smiles, giggles and fun with us on her special day. She was happy all day and enjoyed spending it with her friends...especially Curious George.
More Pictures of Allee's Birthday.
Allee and I just spent four days with Nami and Papa in Bryce and Zion. We did some hiking, swimming, eating out (for ice cream too!) and playing. It was fun. Allee especially loved the horses at our first hotel. She was able to feed them grass and give them loves. Another favorite included the many tunnels we drove and hiked through. We heard her say, "more tunnels" many times on our trip. Trip Pics
On June 20-21st a team of 12 along with 570 other teams ran from Logan to Park City, UT for a total of 180 miles. We finished in 28 hours. It was a lot of fun! In that time we each ran three times and had about an hour and a half of sleep. Crazy? Maybe, but it was a great experience enjoyed by all!
This is for my doctor friends (not that the lay person can't take a stab at it, feel free...). So this is Asher's rash, and I don't know exactly what it is. Here's the history:
1 week of worsening nonpruritic (emphasis on being nonpruritic, he hasn't ever tried to scratch them) slightly erythematous papules 1-2 mm in size. Started at the ankles with one cluster of approx 10-15 papules and increased in number progressing cranially. The legs are the most involved areas with >100 papules with a few scattered papules on the arms/wrists and abdomen. Sparing head, neck, palmar and plantar aspects of hands and feet. One episode of diarrhea lasting for 24 hours (2 days ago) but without any other systemic symptoms (no fever, URI sx, etc.).
I think it's most likely molluscum contagiosum, there are 4-5 of them that appear to possibly be umbilicated so that's my best bet. I've just never seen it this extensive or move this fast (have any of you?). Or some other viral exanthem. I don't think it's scabies or hives or dermatitis or anything immune mediated like that because it is definitely not itchy. Thoughts? (I'm working on getting him an appointment with his own doctor, I just figure it's going to declare itself in one way or another so I'm not sure that will help too much right now).
Here we are. Officially in the home stretch and last trimester. Feeling pretty good but that could be due to the chiropractor. The doctor is pretty happy with our progress and says we are still very low risk. That's always good news to hear. So for the last 2 days Lemon has found her feet and bum. Her favourite thing at the moment is to see how far she can stick her bum out before I push on it to get her to stop. She does the same with her feet. All you moms out there are probably thinking "honey the fun has just begun, just you wait." I also can't get over how many people have told me I look like I'm going to have this baby tomorrow. Has nobody seen a woman at term before? I am VERY much smaller than they are. Here's the picture so you can decide.
We had a great visit last weekend from Doug, Katy and Austen. Allee loved hanging out wit Austen and has been asking for her ever since. This morning she asked for Austen dancing. She wanted to watch the video of her dancing. We went to see her compete in the Scottish festival and she did so well! We are so glad we got to watch her.
She got three golds, one silver and and overall trophy.
We also got to spend Father's Day together. We went to our favorite breakfast spot.
Thank you so much for a great visit! Maybe we can make it an annual affair.
